Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Fashion Design (BFD)

The Department of Fashion Design offers a four-year Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Fashion Design (BFD), which consisted of eight semesters and of total 146 credits. The program is designed for students to acquire theoretical and practical skills of fashion design and to transform their conceptual skill into finished garments. This course will enhance creativity as well as provide opportunity to transform creativity into practical problem solving. After successful completion of this program students will understand every aspect of a garment through both the creative detail in the design and the technical skills used in production. Students will be also equipped with the knowledge and confidence to respond creatively to a design brief within the ready-to-wear fashion market.

The BFD program considers market levels, from high street to designer, through a range of project works, many of which will be in conjunction with specific labels or companies, or are for a particular sector of the market. The short work placement, in undergrad study, enables students to experience the reality of working within a particular company, together with the chance to make useful contacts for your future career. Further, the BFD graduates will be prepared with Artistic ability and creativity, Communication Skills, Sewing and Drawing Skills, and Understanding of Fabrics and materials through active participation in the academic program and activities.

The B.Tech in Fashion Design (BFD) is a four-year degree program with an Outcome Based Education (OBE) curriculum. Our program consists of eight semester and of total 146 credits. We offer 2 semesters a year, and each semester comprises 6 months.

The 4-Year BFD program consists of the following courses:

New students are admitted to the program two times a year – in Spring Semester and Summer Semester. To apply for admission, the candidates will require 12-years of formal education with the expected results as mentioned below:

• Minimum 2.0 GPA both in SSC & HSC or O level & A level or equivalent.
• Students of all groups (e.g. Science, Business Studies, Humanities) can apply.

• Total Fees (8 Semesters, 146 credits):  After 40% waiver Tk. 268,800
• Just pay Tk. 15,000 for admission/registration. The rest of the amount can be deposited in the beginning of each semester.

• Application Form price Taka 500.
• Library caution money Tk. 1,000, which is refundable and thus not included in the total amount.
• Deposit at least Tk. 15,000 as registration fee during admission and the rest of the amount can be deposited in the beginning of each semester.
• The semester fee, skill/LAB fee and tuition fee of 1st semester should be deposited within 15 days of the submission of Admission Application Form.

• All students will get a 40% waiver of Semester and Tuition Fees (for 50th Year of Bangladesh’s Independence).
• The eligible students may get other fee waivers as per RTM-AKTU policy. For more details, please contact admission office.
