Professor Momtaz Shamim, after appointed by the Hon’ble President and Chancellor, has joined as Treasurer of RTM Al-Kabir Technical University, Sylhet on 1 September 2021. She is appointed for four years. Before her new assignment as Treasurer, Professor Momtaz Shamim was Chairman of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Board, Sylhet. She has over thirty years of teaching and administrative experience at the Government Colleges in the honours and master’s degree level in the field of Zoology. She has worked at the UNESCO National Commission of Bangladesh for over three years as a Program Officer. She also worked as the Head of the Department of Zoology at the Eden Girls College, Dhaka, and the Bangla College, Mirpur, Dhaka. She has also worked in Anandamohan Government College, Mymansingh and Moulvibazar Government College.
Professor Momtaz Shamim is an experienced professional with teaching and management skills. She passed her B.Sc (Hons) and M.Sc in Zoology (both in first class) from Dhaka University and joined BCS (Education Cadre - 7th batch).
Professor Shamim comes from a respectable family of Moulvibazar and married to an eminent economist, demographer and management specialist. They had two daughters.
Professor Momtaz Shamim has attended many training courses in home and abroad. She has also travelled to many countries including USA, UK, Canada, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Indonesia, India, Pakistan, Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia.
