Professor Dr. Abu Naser Zafar Ullah, Ph.D has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor of RTM Al-Kabir Technical University (RTM-AKTU) by the honorable President of Bangladesh and Chancellor of the Universities for a 4-year term. He joined in the position from 15 January 2023.
Professor Dr. Zafar Ullah, is an internationally reputed academician and Public Health Specialist, has more than forty years of experience in university teaching, research and administration in different capacities. He has recognized success in higher education, research and project management, including significant international experience in the United Kingdom, Netherlands, South-East Asia, and the Middle East.
Before RTM AKTU, Professor Dr. Zafar was the Dean of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences at Daffodil International University. He was the founding Program Director of MSc in International Health program at the University of Leeds, UK. He has also served in different technical positions in the University of Leeds, UK; and as Head of the KIT Royal Tropical Institute, Netherlands. He has further contributed at leading positions in the UN and donor agencies, NGOs, and international research firms in Bangladesh and abroad. Throughout his career, he has championed interdisciplinary approaches, industry partnerships and a student-focused learning environment.
He has interest in advanced technology and global research. His research’s broadly involved in health, equity and rights; and environmental and climate change across low and middle-income countries. Dr. Zafar has long experience in analyzing and evaluating the complex health interventions and humanitarian assistance in Asia, Africa and other regions, and generated high quality, high impact research outputs. He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed publications in international and national journals. He has attended and contributed to many international and national conferences and seminars
Professor Dr Abu Naser Zafar Ullah obtained Ph.D degree in globalization and global Health from University of Leeds, UK. He also did his Masters in Public Health with distinction from the University of Leeds. He has obtained his Bachelor degree in Medicine and Surgery from Sylhet MAG Osmany Medical College, Bangladesh. He received UK’s prestigious “John Griffith Prize” for his academic excellence. He also acquired several Post-Graduate Diplomas and trainings from the USA, UK, and other EU countries.
Professor Dr Abu Naser Zafar Ullah will lead, with his diversified and technical expertise, RTM Al-Kabir Technical University to achieve it’s Mission and Vision towards meeting Bangladesh’s and global challenges.
